Lao education management began with
education in kindergarten and preschool
level. Kindergartens in Laos have both
government and private schools. Open to
students from the age of 3-6 years. It
takes 3 years, divided into kindergarten
1-3. After finishing kindergarten, will
enter the next elementary school
Since Laos changed its rulership in 1975
(BE 2528) onwards, Laos has adopted
an 11-year education system,
the 5: 3: 3 system as follows
Primary education takes 5 years to
study. Children start school at the
age of 6 years. Education at this level
is compulsory education. All children
must graduate at this level.
Elementary level Primary education is
divided into two levels: Elementary
school 3 years and Elementary
school 2-3 years After completing 6
years of elementary education students
will be required to take a central exam.
The upper secondary level lasts
for 2-3 years. Students will choose to
study in arts, science or vocational
fields according to the results of the
examination.
Preparatory education for a period
of 2 years • Bachelor's degree. A
bachelor's degree is provided to
children with good academic performance.
